Immunity Challenge #3 - Coming Soon

Hey everyone and welcome to your next Immunity Challenge.

Immunity is back up for grabs for TWO tribes!

Your next challenge is a Conquest classic pulled straight from the vault: Coming Soon! However, this time around, we have put a different twist on ol’reliable.

Like our past iterations of this challenge, we will ask your tribe to create an original film trailer of reasonable length that you somehow feels connects to Conquest in some way. However, where as in the past we have asked you to come up with an original film, this season, we are asking you to parody an existing film or television show! Your chosen film or show will have to incorporate the idea of “The Conquest” in some - or any - way you see fit. You will have complete creative freedom, just make sure you are creating something with the scoring criteria in mind!

Your trailer must be one and a half to two minutes long. You will be judged based on the following criteria:



STORYLINE
Does your trailer have a cohesive storyline to follow?
Does your story blend an existing film with Conquest in an enjoyable, understandable way? Think: Parody
Is your script writing funny, clever, witty, smart, coherent? (this does not have to be dialogue, but rather, the flow of the trailer itself)



PERFORMANCE
Is everyone participating in the challenge in the video?
Are the acting performances believable and well done? (If comedy, good comedic timing, if romance, tension and longing looks, etc.)



PARODY
Does your film/movie title parody the original title but relate to Conquest in some way?
Do you have a tagline that is relatable to the trailer, conquest, or survivor in general?



QUALITY
Overall, do you have a good trailer?
Is it visually, audibly, cognitively appealing?



We will have a panel of unbiased judges review all submissions and rank you all based on the criteria above. If a judge ranks you first you will earn 3 points towards your score, if they rank you second you will earn 2 points and if they rank you last you will earn 1 point. The two tribes with the most points will win Immunity!

In addition to the criteria outlined above, their is a PARTICIPATION component for the challenge. For each member of your tribe that does not appear in the Trailer you will lose 5 points from your total score.

You will have until Sunday at 8:00pm EST to complete and submit both your movie trailer.

Please make a thread for this challenge in your tribe camp to post your submissions in. Once you have posted your submission in that thread it is final!

After a little over 55 hours, we have you final submissions! I'm sure you're all excited to see what everyone used so much time to create! Before we get to results, we will post everyone's trailers for you to see!

Before we do though, we want to comment on the judging itself. All judges were briefed with the full instructions of the challenge and took all deviations, including length of video, into consideration when considering specific criteria scoring. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask us after results are revealed.

BARTALOME: very obvious parody, everyone contributed equally. loved the egg lol

FLOREANA: tbh I've never watched the rehearsal before so I had to go watch the actual trailer and then the parody trailer made a lot more sense

GENOVESA: it wasn't clear until the very end what the trailer was a parody of, most of it was just people running and saying "the conquest" 😂

BARTALOME: excellent performance and good acting with a good parody. standout job, this was a very good trainer


FLOREANA: went far over the allotted time with no real payoff. a lot of the scenes felt like variations on the same thing. there were also some problems with the sound mixing where the volume very suddenly fluctuated from quiet to very loud to quiet again


GENOVESA: a very fun vibe with a great parody to it, that had me going "what is this" through it, only to go "OH that's what it is!" at the end, exactly like what it was parodying. good performance too

BARTALOME: I liked this a lot - I was able to identify what it was and it felt like a good blend of the film and Conquest. It was interesting and I really have to say, props to anyone willing to smash an egg on their head - it deserves some recognition. Some of the acting wasn’t the greatest at points but other times it was so it was giving mid. Overall, I really liked it.

FLOREANA: I thought it was very clever that they did it like they were preparing for an org, so it made sense why they were on video call. The main actor was really good with the awkward performance and hard great music in the background and serious trailer shots. The person smoking in the car was also a really good actor. I laughed out loud at times. I didn’t think it needed to go on for so long. It made its point.

GENOVESA: I don’t know what to say. I didn’t initially get what it was parodying. I love Scooby doo and didn’t see it at all. It was confusing when they were running around looking for something. I was like, okay? The storyline felt like one small thing “where is the conquest” repeated over and over again. I just didn’t understand it. They were good for making good exasperated faces in terms of the performance.
